Dear colleagues,
It is a great pleasure for me on behalf of the APC Committee to announce the 5th edition of the APC, which now is available on the homepage of the IAAP: http://iaap-pharma.org
We in the APC Committee have been working for two years to finish this new edition with several important new features:
Some substantial changes to the edition 4.2 have been made. Most important for the users, the headings of the appendices 2.1-2.7 have been harmonized (thanks to René Schwarz). The monographs and requirements of the coming (!) version of the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur. 10.8) have been considered. Some references for use in anthroposophic medicine have been added.
Reference to the Ph.Eur. methods 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 of monograph 2371 (previously HAB methods 21 and 22) for the Rh tinctures will only be implemented July 1, 2022, are already implemented in the APC for the sake of topicality.
In addition, another 14 new substances, 11 of them missing in edition 4.2, have been added in the appendices.
More important and epoch-making, is a new monograph Viscum album. This monograph is a milestone in the history of anthroposophic pharmacy, since it is a result of a cooperation between the manufacturing companies ABNOBA, Helixor, Iscador AG, and WALA. I want to thank Dr. Hartmut Ramm (Head of Botanical Department, Institute Hiscia) for the coordination of this work. But to be earnest, we have finished only the simpler part of the monograph: botany. Therefore, it is important for me to add, that another subgroup with members of the above-mentioned companies and coordinated by Dr. Ulrich Riegert (WALA), are working hard on the analytical part of this monograph. We in the APC Committee are proud of this monograph – have a look – but now are looking forward to finishing the analytical part in cooperation with the companies.
So, we are prepared to begin the work on the edition 5.1 in the next meeting on July 5th.
Meanwhile, you can study the edition 5.0 and send your comments to me.
With best regards also on behalf of the other members of the APC Committee
